Travelling on the Gardiner Expressway has always been exciting for me. I love how it is raised and surrounded by walls of buildings in different styles, made from a variety of materials. On this particular trip home I was taken by the way the shapes, colours, shadows and reflections moved among the variety of the vehicles. Everything was constantly changing; fast, frenzied, buzzing, but also organized. Everyone moved together, in constant response to the movement of those around them. It was as if I was on a roller coaster ride and all of Toronto was the amusement park. This piece is a combination of acrylic paint and painted papers that I collaged to show the variety of architecture in downtown Toronto.
