About the Artwork

I have a collection of paintings that are created from reflecting on the tensions that co-exist within the heart. This painting expresses the tension that exists within the creative process. The tension is between applying a systematic process to create a painting and the moment of creative abandonment. I have discovered the value of mapping out in my mind the steps I want to follow to create a painting and how this leads to places where I move to expressive brushstrokes and mark-making. I believe this tension brings together the strength of measured steps and the beauty of creative abandonment

The Woodland Organics Series released in 2021 expresses a heightened sensitivity to visual texture and colour transitions. Larger paintings give way to bold colour statements.

""My work presents a sense of atmospheric beauty, luminous light and just enough delicate detail to draw the viewer to come closer and engage in my art in another way.""
