"Living in streams, rivers, marshes and ponds and on the shorelines of large lakes, beavers construct dams of branches, stones, and mud, forming ponds that often cover many hectares.
Ecologists often refer to beavers as “ecosystem engineers” because of their ability to alter the landscapes in which they live. The beaver is one of the only mammals, other than humans, that can manufacture its own environment. This Beaver was working away at the Bow River in Calgary - I just had to paint him."

My journey as a Wildlife Artist is one of constant learning. Choosing subjects, learning about their struggles as a species, developing ideas for how best to paint them are ongoing for every painting - bringing that image out in paint is an absolute joy and so rewarding.
"“One of the strengths of wildlife art is its ability to tell stories. In my paintings I try to bring out the individuality of each animal as it goes about its everyday life - I use my brush to tell their stories.""
