This technique aims to represent the subject among its surrounding as a holistic complete scene. I’m constantly looking for the shapes and forms, and for the light and dark, with which I can bring harmony into a painting. While travelling throughout the Cariboo region, I was studying the shapes of gold rush and ranch buildings and antiques, which inspired in me the idea for this painting. The combination of an aged subject depicted with modern materials and style complements the theme of the subject’s holistic depiction.
