Years ago on the spur of the moment in a session with my model I had her assume two poses, alternating between the roles as I put her together with herself on the canvas. This is a motif that has reverberated more than any other in my work over the years, and I feel it has reached its pinnacle in this current piece. “Duplicity” was the title I assigned to that first series of twin paintings, and there is definitely something of that sort going on here, don’t you think?
