BC has traditionally been a first industry province, and this is still largely the case in rural areas. Also, and especially in this last year, it has been the setting for some really tough challenges. Although this painting is inspired by the depth of spirit of one particular BC working man, in offering it for the Scenes from Western Canada exhibit I wish to honour the labour and the resilience of our people more generally. Here’s to you, BC.

"In painting as in life, whatever distance you travel just opens up further vistas for exploration. Subtleties, bold statements, complexities of relationships, colour, colour, colour. I wish I could paint forever!"
