As the larch trees turn gold and the winter snow starts to blanket the mountain peaks, the grizzly is once again the governor of his domain, if even for a short period. Pestered by tourists and threatened with death at every turn, the summer has been hectic, but now the crowds are dispersing, and the wilderness sounds are normal. The grizzly surveys his house and sniffs the air. It is crisp, fresh and full of snow. He is once again the governor of his habitat, the apex predator, as he prepares for winter without the incessant disturbance of hikers, bikers and cars. Perhaps he questions why the two-legged can't seem to share. Or maybe he is focused on finding food now that the danger is reduced before winter sets in, and he has to prepare for a long sleep. This is his home, and he will govern~ for now.
