Isolation has been difficult for many families, mine included. I haven't seen my mother for months and wanted something of her in my work. Her favourite colour is magenta pink, any pink actually and her favourite flowers are peonies. I was thinking of her while I painted this. I wanted it to be soft and feminine, with areas of intense colour, interest, mystery. Each peony is unique, with layers of colour, shapes, and texture that come together to create something beautiful.
