About the Artwork

This painting holds the elements close to my heart and history, set in my Father's study, with a backdrop of rock and chopped wood.
The Blanket: My pioneering grandfather sold his department store, in Dawson Creek B.C. to the Hudson's Bay Co. in 1952.
The Canadiana rocker and butter churn: Cherished antiques of my parents.
The Apron: Worn daily by my late Scottish mother-in-law, who came to Canada as a war bride on the Queen Mary in 1947.
The Furs: Traded by my grandfather with the Indigenous communities of Northern B.C.
The Book: "Growing Pains" by Emily Carr was my first read by Emily Carr, which started a love relationship with her art and writings.

Marilyn Hunt

Langley, British Columbia

Marilyn Hunt is a multi-disciplinary artist, who seeks to magnify the often un-noticed and simple things of the organic world. Her paintings are vivid and alive with texture and interest. She often blends text and her own poetry throughout her compositions.

"When asked about my work i describe it as "painting myself out of myself". My canvas becomes my diary."
