About the Artwork

Several years ago I saw a heritage apple tree blown down by a fall wind. In the spring it was in full bloom, and that was the start of my "Down but not Done" series. I first painted this willow several years ago on development property. Then in had several legs seemingly "crawling" forward. I went back to see it as I was compelled to honour its recovery for this show. The houses around had been demolished but there it still stood with one leg left, and again proudly displaying yet another spring.
