When I am struck by something, my impulse is to describe it in paint. The textures, shapes and colors seemed particularly palpable on the day that I painted at this spot at Minnekhada Park, Coquitlam. The several studies that I did there from life all contributed to inform this final painting that endeavours to evoke the sense of tranquility one finds on a summer's day by the pond.
