When struck by what I see I respond in paint. There is delight in the challenge of arranging colours and shapes to depict a scene that will not only satisfy my desire to share a tender tribute to the ordinary, but will also remain authentic to my visceral response to the natural beauty before me. "On The Way To Gray Bay, Haida Gwaii", was created in my studio, based solely on a plein air oil sketch made during my 2018 painting trip to Haida Gwaii, a place that for me, offers endless beauty, strength, challenge and quiet.
