Not For Sale
In June of 2019, while on a painting trip to Waterton Lakes National Park, I was struck by the beautiful starkness of the burnt trees left standing after a massive fire had swept through the park only a few years before. This painting attempts to convey a passion for the Canadian landscape similar to what I perceive the Group of Seven painters had, particularly in their outdoor sketches. In a nod to their aesthetic, it is painted with a limited palette of colours of the type that would have been available to them: Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Ultramarine Blue, Viridian Green, and White.
