These prehistoric looking bird have a lot of elegance and eye appeal for such a large bird, and I’ve seen them in the most surprising places! While they frequent the lakes around us in central Alberta, I see them often in shallow sloughs. I always wonder why they are there and not at the lake? These locals, were at Buffalo Lake, Alberta and are show stoppers for people on the beach when seen in the golden hour. The glow is incredible!
