The work grew out of long, unhurried walks through downtown Vancouver — not in search of a subject, but in search of a state of mind. The city's streets reveal more than their surface activity; it's the unspoken communication that accumulates in the places where people gather, linger, and pass through. Spaces carved by human creativity and animated by weather and light. These are the spaces that trigger a reaction, thoughts that begin, almost involuntarily, to translate themselves into paint.
