The magical moments of the Super Blue Moon on August 31, 2023 were observed and photographed by many. Images were shared globally and remind us that mankind is one and the same. We are connected by our earthly and celestial experiences.
The image of the Sleeping Giant in Thunder Bay reconnects me to my place of birth, family and friends. It was where we celebrated my mother's 96th birthday on August 29th.
The Canada Geese, who mate for life, honked as they swam by. They represent my parents' lifetime commitment to each other. Now that my mother is nearing the end of her life's journey, she is constantly thinking of my father and wanting to be reunited with him again.
This piece was challenging as it was difficult to keep the nighttime subject matter interesting. It is showing more details than actually seen to provide more interest and to create a stronger composition.
It was also difficult emotionally due to the close connection I have with my mother.
