About the Artwork

At Vancouver’s Jericho Beach, nature, industry, and quiet companionship converge. A golden lab explores the shallows, fully absorbed in the moment—unbothered by the towering red cargo ship anchored nearby or the outline of the North Shore mountains beyond.
Grit captures the layered contrasts of the city’s edge, where personal and industrial landscapes coexist. Through bold, expressive brushstrokes, the piece holds both stillness and subtle motion, inviting reflection on the balance between what feels wild and what’s been built.
