This piece was painted from the edge of our campsite in Killarney — honestly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever set up my easel. The view looked out over the George Lake, with these tiny trees clinging to the rock and big, rolling hills in the background. I was completely in awe of the landscape — the soft pink granite, the cool green water, and those distant blue ridges that seemed to go on forever.
I loved how the trees stood silhouetted against the light, almost like little sentries watching over the lake. There’s something so poetic about how they grow right out of the rock — tough and scrappy, just doing their thing. It felt like the perfect place to slow down, breathe, and just take it all in.
Painting this scene felt peaceful and grounding, and I hope that comes through in the piece. It’s one of those views I know I’ll carry with me for a long time.
