As the season started to change from summer to fall, I was inspired by the beauty of foliage as it begins to fade and decay. The layers of paint and texture took shape and I have called this piece "Autumn Echinaceas". You will see the abstract interpretation of flowers, leaves and bark as they transform and continue to enchant us.

Karen Marki's paintings are layers of several works built onto the canvas like an excavation site, encouraging the viewer to see what lies beneath. Her process includes using unusual tools to create markings and texture inspired by both the urban and natural world.
