About the Artwork
My inspiration comes from the acknowledgement of emotions that are so often hidden but that are all too evident in the eyes. It is a private moment, perhaps, but may also be identified by anyone who has experienced such a time in their lives.
Working beyond the original portrait of oil on canvas, I have added a layer of loosely woven fabric as the veil, which was prepared by saturating it with a medium. It was then enhanced with shadows and highlights to provide a three dimensional effect.
