About the Artwork

This is an oil on canvas painting of a local bucking school just outside of Pouce Coupe, northern BC Canada. These bucking schools and Roughstock practices are where our Canadian cowboys learn to ride Roughstock. A Roughstock practice would not take place without the Pick-up men, and here we see two pick-up riders wrangling a bucking horse after it has gone the 8 seconds in the arena.
It is a cold spring day in the North, the wind is picking up dust, and buds are just showing on the aspen trees that have begun to wake up after a long northern winter. It’s a fresh crisp spring day, excellent for bucking Roughstock.

Cecil Lake, British Columbia

I am a self taught artist originally from Northern Alberta, I now live in Northern BC not far from where I grew up. I specialize mainly in authentic western/country themed graphite art, pulling ideas from events that I have been to, or am a part of and from memories.

"The inspiration for my artwork comes from the authentic western life that my family and I live. I pull ideas from memories and local events that happen in our area and everyday life. I enjoy sharing those memories with people and it inspires me to keep creating."
