In these still life paintings, I'm thinking back to our own harvest of grapes form our small urban garden (Framed size 19 x 16"). It seemed an unlikely and lavish gift from a single vine in our back yard, and I was compelled to honour the harvest in paint, elevating and reflecting the subject matter by placing it on my favourite antique silver tray in the oblique light of autumn. The dark lush purple of grapes against fresh leaf green creates counterpoint and drama, and the two swirl together in the reflection of polished silver.

"The subject of my work is light, whether painting sweeping historic architecture, remote landscapes or intimate still lifes. My work is based on travelling to explore both urban and wilderness landscapes, experiencing, observing and then portraying how light changes our perception of these environments."
