From a kayak trip on the Broughton Archipelago comes this painting of a wind-twisted tree turning to lace in the sun. The mix of daily morning fog infiltrated by rays of light was a constant source of fascination for me, neck straining & eyes squinting to take in delicate patterns and shapes (with patient friends waiting around each corner, paddles resting - thanks Canadian Travel Mongers) The strength and grace of these trees in the face of coastal winds feels current, relevant.

My work is based on travelling to explore both urban and wilderness landscapes, experiencing, observing and then portraying how light changes our perception of these environments."
