While attending the FCA plein air retreat in Banff – I headed early on my own out to the Vermillion Lakes Road. It is always worth getting up early. Working from my tailgate studio - I had the bones of this piece laid down just as the sun was coming up. A joyful morning spent in the company of this old snag – the shining teal waters of Vermillion Lakes, ducks, frogs and wind in the marsh grasses. My joy.
Painted (about 80%) plein air and then finished in the studio. Acrylic on textured and tinted canvas. I travel with pre-primed and colored panels & canvas ready for my plein air adventure.
