Inspired by the spectacular lands near Lilooet BC, I painted 3 small plein air panels from this location. From a high bluff overlooking the canyon the drama of cliffs, sage and grassy slopes lead up to the dark forest in cloud shadows. That blue river such a contrast in this desert valley. The rugged cliffs were reminiscent of my recent travels to Avignon France...of castles and stone walls - soaring ramparts catching the light. What a day that was.
Layers of textured glazes, spatter & drybrush in acrylic create an organic pattern suggesting grainy slopes and distant hillside shadows & terrain.
