My favourite subject matter to paint is light in glass. I enjoy the reflections, the way the light changes colour through the glass, the way a simple subject can become complex. For this show, the goal was to challenge myself, so I chose a subject that is also about painting light, and reflection, but that is more abstract, more complex: aluminium foil. I love the variations of colour in a subject that, on it's own, is all but colourless, and the way as an artist I can create the illusion of 3 dimensions on a flat surface.
