The brilliant red of this hibiscus flower brings out the faded red in the Mexican flag, proudly hanging from this dilapidated home in Mazatlan. On a future visit to the area, long after the flowers had died, there was nothing to draw the eye, no beauty left to distract one from the feeling of poverty present here.
