Summer Roses was inspired by a visit to a local flower farm, one of my favourite summer destinations and a place I return to year after year. The striking orange and pink blooms first caught my eye, but it was the relationship between them that made me stop for a closer look. Though they belonged to the same plant, each flower displayed subtle shifts in colour and form. Some blooms were fully open, while others were still unfurling, each at a different stage of development.
One of the things I enjoy most about gardening is watching plants change over time. A rose rarely looks the same from one week to the next. Buds open, colours deepen or soften, petals fade, and new flowers emerge to take their place. It is this constant state of change that keeps me in the garden, searching for moments worth capturing before they disappear.
This painting preserves one of those moments. It reflects the pleasure of discovering something beautiful at exactly the right time and taking a moment to appreciate it before it changes again. Like summer itself, the moment is temporary, but no less meaningful because of it.

"Creating art feels like a natural legacy. My brush gathers stories from flowers I’ve nurtured, journeys I’ve taken, and objects I hold dear. I hope my paintings stir a recognition that beauty resides not in grandeur, but in the intimate details of daily life."
