About the Artwork
I painted this thinking about contrast and balance. The figure here is turning away from the barrage of noise and stimulation surrounding him. Overwhelmed, or just resting - either way he is looking to return to a state of balance and harmony. I played with opposites contrasting darks and lights, space and busyness, cool blues and warmer skin tones, straight lines and human curves.
