This piece came to be after a wonderful "Owl Evening" where we were up close and personal with them. It was hazy with smoke from the wildfires as they flew around us and I wondered if they were as concerned about this summers events as I?
Capturing the golden hour glow and the movement of the wings was the goal with this work while hinting at the fires with the textures and colors in the background. I started with an acrylic under painting while the rest is done with many layers soft pastel.
