Yaya

Yaya lives in the Dominican Republic where we spend winters.
She brings fruit to us in a plastic tub balanced on her head.
It iis heavy.
The return is small.
It is in fact a very difficult life.
And yet from time to time her smile beams.
In this painting done live, I haveI shown her in a more typical reflective mood.
My intent was to illustrate the calm dignity she exudes despite a life whose circumstances do not suggest it.
