Not For Sale
While on vacation in Nazere, Portugal this October I painted this sea scape from the beach, en plein air. Nazere is located next to a steep cliff with an ascensor (escalator on rails) delivering passengers to a neighbouring town Sitio. In the distance at the far edge of Sitio on the edge of the cliff, from my view point we see a red light house.
I asked my wife to pose briefly by the lapping waves to get a sense of scale. Observing the changing weather conditions I painted quickly.
I packed my paint gear just in time to avoid the rain and we took the ascensor to Sitio and a restaurant with a spectacular view overlooking the sea.
And skewered bar-b-que squid, shrimp and red wine
