Painted during a residency in Carvalhal, Portugal, this highly textured work evokes a nighttime scene around a pond. Deep blues pool in the shadows while abstract flowers push through the dark — a quiet insistence that growth continues even when the light goes. It is a riot of colour still alive in the night. Made with a variety of marks and techniques, the surface rewards a slow, close look.
