The inspiration for this piece is the unfortunate correspondence between the large scale disasters that are regularly occurring and the ancient tale of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Human actions continue to endanger the planet and perhaps our very existence. Are we near the end?
Other than the constraints imposed by the general concept there were few rules in the painting process for this piece. Paint was applied in a number of ways and built up in multicoloured layers with various tools. The thick pebbly pigment reflects light in all directions, giving depth, luminosity and visual interest.
