Judy Koch
Edmonton, Alberta
Judy Koch is an artist who paints still life and urban landscape images of the ordinary and the unremarkable. She believes that nothing is unworthy of being painted. Her oil paintings evoke feelings of nostalgia and recognition, as well as reminders of the themes of the ordinariness of things, consumption, abandonment and decay. Her style is realistic, verging on photorealism. She paints from reference photos taken by the artist herself at vintage stores, antique malls and junk yards.
Judy Koch is also a printmaker and is a member of SNAP (Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists). Her usual forms of printmaking are woodcut and mezzotint.
Her works are contained in private collections in Western Canada.
