My painting "Women of Distinction" developed from a symbiotic relationship between my inner imagination and as a response from what was developing from the paint itself - a call and response. My most important intention was the mood I wanted to depict. Multi layers of mixed media including gold foil were built on an underlying structure - the design bones beneath the surface. I love this creative process of adding, quieting and subtracting passages because it never can be duplicated. These African Women were purposely elongated and adorned to depict elegance, a serene affluent environment in an imaginative time.
