About the Artwork
Trapped in the ice near the Ross Ice Shelf is a narrative that has been played over and over during the last two centuries. No matter the strength of a double steel hull nor the determination of expert sailors, mother nature is always unpredictable in the most extreme places on earth. I love the composition of the large bow and the small diminutive figures on the ice. What are they doing? What has happened to the anchor? Is it also frozen in? So many questions and really no answers to be found in this age old struggle of exploration.
