As a self‑taught artist, Carlene’s fascination with watercolour began in high school. The fluidity of the medium — the way it moves across the paper and releases vibrant colour with each brushstroke — captivated her from the start. Over the years, she continued to explore watercolour through courses, experimentation, and countless attempts to understand its beauty. It wasn’t until retirement, however, that she was able to fully dedicate herself to painting. She is especially drawn to still‑life subjects, particularly flowers, whose colour and fluidity inspire her. Capturing this beauty on paper brings her joy, and she loves knowing that her work brings happiness to others.
