About the Artwork

The painting depicts a scene in a small village in Guilin, China, where amidst the picturesque landscape, a girl is washing clothes by the riverside. A poem is inscribed as follows:
In picturesque lands, mountains stay far and tall,
With a view that feels like a poet’s call.
In search of this scene, so vibrant and bright,
A melody of voices leads me to light.

A gentle breeze plays with her hair,
While the water reflects her beauty so rare.
By the stream, where washing is done,
Ripples grace the surface, shimmering in the sun.
