Kyungah Song

Edmonton, Alberta

Song is a Korean-Canadian artist based in Alberta. After dedicating years to motherhood and supporting her husband, she has joyfully returned to her passion for painting. A graduate of Kyunggi University with a background in Western painting, her move to Canada initially paused her creative journey. Now working from her home studio, she explores acrylic, oil, and charcoal mediums. Deeply reflective, Song often questions her identity, drawing inspiration from Korean mythology and history. Her work frequently features traditional Korean costumes, especially hanbok, rendered on burlap-covered canvases. This unique choice of material enhances texture and gives her paintings a timeless, aged quality. Song is grateful to walk her artistic path once more, blending cultural memory with personal expression in each piece.
“The world is a white canvas, and every stroke of your soul colors it into being.”
