STILL LAND
By Coral Ye Chen
English translated by Minlyn Chen
In all reality, I'm just a stretch of still land,
Standing calm and quiet.
As the eternities pass by,
I reveal a tender beauty in your eyes.
In all reality, I'm just a stretch of still land,
Watching you come and go.
I worry my love
Melts snow bluffs into teardrops
And the time for pain comes sooner or later,
For eventually we'll say goodbye.
I worry my unfeelingness
Will forever freeze an aching heart,
With no way to reflect the bit of love you throw into it,
With no comfort or solace.
In all reality, I'm just a stretch of still land,
A frozen wasteland of cold, year-round.
Because of light's love,
I've been changed into a natural majesty.
I greet every sunrise,
And wave farewell to the last rays of sunset.
Using lines of light to inscribe the moment that I met you,
Embracing the idyllic scenery.
