When I was visiting Japan, I was thrilled as a cat lover to see the high esteem in which our feline friends are held. I came across these huge, exquisite wooden carved statues and was mesmerized. They are known as the beckoning cats. Realizing that it wasn't feasible to bring them home I settled with numerous photos from which I could create a lasting memory with my brush!
