About the Artwork

For most of us, the word “Sakura” evokes no particular image, as it belongs to a language we don't understand. The word actually comes from Japanese and means “cherry blossom”. What fascinates me about art is that it allows us to transcend these linguistic barriers. Painting has the power to convey emotions and ideas universally, without the need to learn a particular language.

“Sakura” captures the ephemeral beauty and purity of cherry blossoms, emblems of Japanese spring. There are over 600 varieties of cherry trees, distinguished by different criteria, such as the color of the blossoms and young leaves, the blooming period, the number of petals and the shape of the tree. In Japan, the transient nature of their blossoming has long been a powerful metaphor for the fleeting nature of beauty and life.

With “Sakura”, I hope to share this simple, universal wonder at the beauty of life. Proof that painting, like cherry blossom, can speak directly to everyone's heart, without the need for translation.

In each of my tree portraits, I integrate small pieces of real bark. They are a tangible reminder of the precious and fragile co-presence between man and nature.

"...BECAUSE EVERY TREE HAS ITS OWN STORY."
