Jean Ann Berkenpas
Valemount, British Columbia
Jean Ann Berkenpas is a self taught artist residing in the small picturesque mountain village of Valemount BC, in the ancestral territory of the Simpcw and Lheidli T’enneh First Nations. Her watercolor and acrylic paintings are inspired by the stunning beauty of nature, particularly the Canadian Rockies and mountains near her home. She combines both elements of realism and impressionism, with a vivid palette to meditate on the beauty of rugged mountains, and the people and wildlife that make that wilderness home. The goal of her work is to make wild and beautiful places in nature accessible, and to shed light on their ecological importance, connecting people with nature and the web of life we are all a part of.
"The goal of my work is to make wild and beautiful places in nature accessible, and to shed light on their ecological importance."
