Water carved the spectacular Thompson River Valley. In the late afternoon, the sunlight reflects off the soft yellow and peach coloured canyon walls, creating deep shadows of purple and indigo, heightening the contrast with the brilliant blue of the river.

Carol Loeb, SFCA
Yarker, Ontario
Collectively, Carol’s work is a contrast of the engineered or built environment to the wilderness. She works mainly in acrylics, usually blocking in dark and mid-tone areas first then adding thin layers of saturated colour to create luminosity and depth. The resulting realism goes beyond photographic representation of place.
"To capture these emotive qualities of the subject and have the image go beyond the purely representational, I often use contrasting saturated, complimentary colours to create a vibrancy and emphasis that goes beyond the pretty picture."
