I used the natural contrast and dramatic effect inherent to complimentary colours. Oranges dominate the background helping to anchor the composition and frames the attention on the movement created by the brilliant blues of the doors and stairs.

Carol Loeb, SFCA
Collectively, Carol’s work is a contrast of the engineered or built environment to the wilderness. She works mainly in acrylics, usually blocking in dark and mid-tone areas first then adding thin layers of saturated colour to create luminosity and depth. The resulting realism goes beyond photographic representation of place.
"To capture these emotive qualities of the subject and have the image go beyond the purely representational, I often use contrasting saturated, complimentary colours to create a vibrancy and emphasis that goes beyond the pretty picture."
