About the Artwork

“The Star-Catcher” explores the wonder and diversity of our human family using colour and pattern. The colourful garment is a richly patterned collage, hinting at the rich diversity of cultural influences.
By using both familiar motifs, such as florals, and contrasting vibrant geometric shapes, the artist creates a compelling contrast that adds depth and interest to the piece, and leads to a sense of tribalism, ritual and identity. The gold vessel held by the figure adds an intriguing focal point. It’s significance is left open to interpretation, provoking curiosity and inviting viewers to ascribe their own meaning to the painting.
The scattered stars offer a touch of intrigue and whimsy, which counter-balance the intensity to the patterns on the garment, and capture the imagination of the viewers.

Technique:Collaged Papers, Acrylic Paint, Posca Pen, Acrylic Paint Pens and Gold Leaf on Birch Panel.
