This is an attempt to capture the image of the mare with her young foal galloping away down a field. The newborn baby never leaves the protection of the mother’s side. The image of the mare and foal were sketched from our horses- Kennisis and Little Kennisis shortly after the foal was born. The drawing for this print was made with a lithograph pencil drawn directly on a large limestone surface, then copied and repeated in various sizes and directions to give the sense of the pair running off down the field. The background was added with "tuche"

""My paintings, which are done in series, are an attempt to show beautiful locations whose natural integrity has either been altered by human intervention or is about to be. What is the cost of our imposition on the virginal status of these lands and the inhabitants therein?""
