Lynda Tierney

Vancouver, British Columbia

Lynda Tierney is an artist living and working in Vancouver. Although her art could be classified as realism, it maintains an illustrative quality—likely influenced by her master’s degree in children’s picturebooks. The subjects of her paintings are often inanimate, but she views each piece as an act of self-portraiture. Her greatest influence is American painter Edward Hopper, and she strives to capture a similar sense of isolation within her work. The idea of “home” is also central to her art, as she analyzes the changing nature of this concept and seeks to evoke feelings of nostalgia and reflection.
