As a painter my objective is to record and share what I see through my eyes in the world around me. But in my observations the real beauty of this earth is always enhanced and magnified by the presence of light. Ordinary moments become extraordinary scenes when light is at play. The technical application of the medium can easily be underappreciated in the ordinary but alive with wow factor when light has been introduced into the scene.
This scene has been painted like a poured watercolor piece by adding layer upon layer of masking fluid moving from the lightest value to the blackest black using the sharpened end of a wooden chop stick and the end of a straightened paper clip to apply the thick masking fluid. Unlike a traditional poured watercolor, I have carefully determined where the colors will go rather than the random approach used when pouring watercolor.
